Timeline

The timeline of the First Age is singular, but not straight, it weaves through past and future, sometimes pausing for an instant in the present. You might think this is simple incoherence, the discordant manifold narrative voices each telling their own story without reference to each other. It is a valid interpretation. How else to reconcile pitches for an artist machine, near-future gender revolution, infinite ducks in modern Kentucky and mythical prehistoric goblins?

Towards A Timeline Of The First Age

We are not bound by strictures of history, historiography or conventional world-building. How can we be when this is the First Age, the first attempt at creating a narrative? Not every event has to be nailed in place, not every moment be agreed upon.

Yet we cannot hope to grope towards a greater comprehension of any greater structure, deliberate or emergent, without making an attempt to describe it. Events have causes and effects, themes emerge, decisions and accidents echo one another. A timeline can be attempted, and as such brings into existence this page.

It is, and remains, a work in progress.
